Safaris To The Northern Parks Of Tanzania

The national parks of Arusha, Lake Manyara, Serengeti, Tarangire and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area -including Ngorongoro crater, Olduvai Gorge and Ndutu lake and plains- can be visited in this circuit, as well as the beautiful lakes Eyasi and Natron.
On a classic safari you will travel from park to park in strong and comfortable 4wd safari vehicles with experienced and knowledgeable Tanzanian driver/guides. The safaris usually take about 6/7 days from the town of Arusha.
Our personalized itineraries are designed to suit your wishes and expectations, suggesting the best place each season of the year for the best game viewing experience.

Northern Circuit: Classic safari itinerary

  • Days 1: From Arusha to Tarangire N. P. This is a great park for game viewing during the dry months -July to October- and beautiful all year around. Healthy elephant population, beautiful baobab´s lanscape.
  • Day 2: From Tarangire N.P. to Lake Eyasi. Walks around the lake. Option to see the Hedzabe or Datoga tribes and beautiful views of the lake and Rift.
  • Day 3: Ngorongoro Conservation Area: visit of Olduvai Gorge –"craddle of mankind"- and museum. Afternoon walk with maasai to the sunset viewpoint, another opportunity to get out of the car.
  • Days 4 & 5: Serengeti N.P.: endless plains and acacias, home to the great migration of zebras and wildebeest during the green months of the year in the central, south and western areas (November to June) and in the northern area -Mara- during the dry season (July to October). Plenty of resident fauna -mainly cats- all year around. Always provides an excellent safari experience.
  • Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater, where the beautiful Maasais and their cattle share the land with almost every specie of wild fauna that we find in Tanzania. An unforgettable day.
  • Day 7: Return to Arusha or Kilimanjaro airports. If time, there will be one last visit to Lake Manyara, a tropical forest in the Great Rift Valley –plenty of migratory birds in the wet season- or Arusha National Park, with great views of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Northern Circuit: More Options

There are different ways of visiting this area and these are some ideas:

Combine driving up to Serengeti and flying back to Arusha or the coast for a beach extension.

Drive from Arusha to Serengeti, cross the Western Corridor up to Lake Victoria and fly back to the coast from Mwanza.

Fly in and out of Serengeti N.P. for longer visits as well as combining camps in different areas for a complete Serengeti experience.

Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Lake Natron Game Controlled Area are incredibly beautiful during the green season (November to June) allowing off road game driving, bush walks, visits to Lake Natron and fantastic views of Oldonyo Lengai, the only active volcano of Tanzania and the sacred mountain for the Maasais.
